Police Given Extension To Question Two Men Over North Belfast Assault
A court has authorised an extra 36 hours for detectives to question two suspects, aged 41 and 32, following a serious assault at a property in the Duncairn Parade area of north Belfast on Monday 20 July 2026.
The extensions were granted on the morning of Wednesday 22 July. Both men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as part of the ongoing investigation. Police have renewed their appeal for information from the public.
Detective Chief Inspector Jenni Rea said: "We are asking anyone who has information about the assault to contact police and assist with our investigation.
"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault, or who may have captured footage, including CCTV or mobile phone recordings.
"We believe there are people who have information and would urge them to come forward.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, or submit information via our witness appeal form at reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 1454 of 20/07/26.
"Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org/."
