Two Men Held After South Belfast Stabbing

Two men have been detained after a stabbing was reported in south Belfast on Wednesday evening, 12 August, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has said.

Detective Inspector Harvey said: "At around 7.30pm, officers received and responded to a report that a man had been stabbed in the Fitzroy Avenue area of the city.

"The injured man had sustained multiple puncture wounds to his chest and neck, and was bleeding from his left ear.

"He was subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening at this stage.

"A man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, whilst a second man, also aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and theft.

"They both remain in custody this morning, Thursday 13th August, as enquiries continue, and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened, or who has any information which might assist, to contact us using our witness appeal form at reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals quoting reference number 1431 of 12/08/26 or call us on 101.

A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Two men die in separate stabbing incidents
Two people have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Hugh McKibben, 51, of Main Street in Carrowdore died in a stabbing incident at a house on Inisharoan Court about midnight on Sunday May 5. Four people were arrested following his murder but three have since been released on police bail.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Three Arrested After Man Dies In Stabbing Attack
Three men have been arrested following a stabbing attack in Craigavon, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 45-year-old man was stabbed at a house in Parkmore. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries. The man's name has not yet been released. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
