Hooded gunman robs ATM cash delivery

Police in south Belfast are appealing for information following an armed robbery at an ATM machine on the Stranmillis Road on Tuesday.

Shortly before 2pm, cash delivery drivers were re-filling the machine when a hooded man armed with a handgun approached them.

The robber demanded the cash box from the employee before making off in a nearby green Seat Leon car with two other men.

The vehicle was found a short time later in Upper Stanfield Street in the Markets area of the city with the cash box in the back seat. The contents of the box, a substantial sum of cash, had not been taken.

The three culprits are described as in their early twenties, tall, thin and wearing jeans, trainers and sports tops.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery or the culprits make their getaway is asked to contact CID at Musgrave Street on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
