Cash box taken in armed raid

There has been an armed robbery of a cash van at an ATM in Dundonald this morning.

A police spokesperson said that a security guard was making a delivery at an ATM on the Upper Newtownards Road when he was approached by a man armed with a knife.

The man demanded the cash box and fled in a waiting maroon coloured car.

Police are keen to speak to a man who approached the security guard and told him what he had seen.

The robber escaped with what was described as a substantial sum of money.

Police in County Antrim are investigating after a "loud bang" was reported in the village of Cushendall. Officers were called to Mill Street late on Wednesday night, 03 July. Damage was caused to the door of a property and two cars parked nearby.

Police appeal following separate robberies in Belfast
Detectives in north Belfast are appealing for information following two separate robberies on Tuesday. In the first incident at around 12 noon a security guard was assaulted as he delivered a cash box to a bank on the Shankill Road.

Majority Oppose Troubles Amnesty
A clear majority of respondents to a Government consultation on a strategy to deal with the legacy of the Troubles have opposed an amnesty for former soldiers. Around 17,000 public responses were submitted to the consultation, which lasted 21 weeks between May and October last year.

Police Probe Shooting Incident
There has been a series of violent incidents across Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours. Most recently, a 38-year-old man was hurt in a north Belfast shooting that happened at Estoril Park at around 3.30am early this morning (Friday). The victim was shot in the hand and leg.
