Police Appeal After Needle Found In Halloween Treat In Rathfriland
The Police Service of Northern Ireland is urging parents, guardians and carers to thoroughly check children's Halloween sweets after a report that a chocolate bar in the Rathfriland area was contaminated with a needle.
Officers received a report on Tuesday 3rd November that a wrapped chocolate bar was found to contain a sewing needle. No injuries have been reported, but police are advising the public to remain vigilant and examine all items before eating.
People are asked to inspect both wrapped and unwrapped treats gathered while 'Trick or Treating', and to look out for unusual tears, pinholes or broken seals.
Anyone who finds anything suspicious, or sees signs of tampering, should avoid handling the item further and contact police immediately.
