Belfast estate agent appears in court on money laundering charges
One of Belfast’s leading estate agents has appeared in court in connection with money laundering charges.
Philip Johnston, who employs more than 40 staff in six agencies in and around east Belfast, appeared in court on Monday to face four money laundering charges in connection with property.
Detective Sergeant Raymond Cromie, who is investigating the case, told Belfast magistrates' court he could connect Mr Johnston to the charges.
Mr Johnston replied not guilty to each alleged offence but had bail postponed until police carry out relevant searches in regard to the case.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old woman from Co Down has appeared in court charged with 16 counts of money laundering.
Sharon Moss of Torgrange in Holywood said she understood the charges when they were put to her during the hearing at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
She was released on bail by the magistrate and will appear in court again on June 7.

Warning Issued After Thousands Lost To Gift Card Scam
The PSNI have issued a warning after a L'Derry resident lost thousands of pounds in a gift card scam. According to police, the person was contacted online and told that they had won money. They were told they needed to send online gift cards to verify themselves. This continued for some time before the scam was spotted and stopped.

The Alliance Party has described the UK Government's reprofiling of money originally intended for integrated and shared schools has "an act of vandalism". The Strangford MLA and Education spokesperson, Nick Mathison, was speaking after the party raised the matter with Education Minister Paul Givan in the Assembly Chamber.
