Man appears in court on teenage murder charges

A 25-year-old man has appeared in court today charged with the murder of two teenagers in Co Armagh five years ago.

Steven Leslie Brown denied murdering Andrew Robb, 19, and David McIlwaine, 18, on 19 February 2000. Both men were stabbed to death after leaving a disco in Tandragee. Their bodies were discovered on the nearby Druminure Road a few hours later.

A detective told Armagh Magistrates Court on Friday that the accused had replied "not guilty" to both counts, however, he said he believed he could connect him with the charges.

Earlier this week BBC’s Crimewatch programme featured the events that led to the incident. Soon afterwards a 25-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the murders.

Another man remains in custody in connection with the same incident.
