Fifth man charged over football riot
A fifth man has been charged with riotous behaviour at last month’s Glentoran and Linfield football match in east Belfast.
The 27-year-old is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court next week.
Last week, two men appeared in court on the same charge. Paul Harding, 28, from Cheviot Street in east Belfast, and William Joseph McQuiston, 22, from Highfield Drive, pleaded guilty to the charges.
Both men have been banned from attending any sporting event as part of their bail conditions. Sentencing was deferred until 10 June.
The day previous to this, a fourth man was charged with riotous behaviour in connection with the same incident which saw hundreds of rival supporters throw missiles and fight hand to hand battles with each other at the end of the game.
A week prior to this, a 20-year-old man appeared in court on the same charge.
Steven Moore, from Hood Court in Antrim, was released on bail on condition that he does not attend Irish league games, abstains from alcohol and reports to the police three times a week.
