Two due in court charged with riotous behaviour

A 21-year-old-man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged with riotous assembly.

The man, who is from the Highfield area of the city, is charged in connection with riotous behaviour in North Belfast, following the contentious Whiterock parade on September 10, 2005.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old youth has also been charged with riotous assembly in North Belfast.

The teenager, who is from the Antrim Road area will also appear at Belfast Magistrates Court today charged in connection with disturbances at the Ardoyne shops on July 12 last year.

Two appear in court charged with riotous behaviour
Two men have appeared in court today charged with riotous behaviour following trouble at last month’s football game between Glentoran and Linfield at the Oval. Paul Harding, 28, from Cheviot Street in east Belfast, and William Joseph McQuiston, 22, from Highfield Drive, pleaded guilty to the charges.

Elderly Man Accused Of Raping Minor
A 67-year-old man is to appear in court today, charged with raping and indecently assaulting a minor. The man was detained by police yesterday. It is believed the alleged offences took place in east Belfast between 2005 and 2006. The man is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning, police said.

Detectives Investigate Burglary In North Belfast
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of a burglary at residential premises in the Wilton Street area of north Belfast. Between 7.30am and around 6.25 pm yesterday, 29 January, it was reported that entry was gained to a property in the area.
