Woman is subjected to serious sexual assault in Lurgan
Police in Portadown are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault on a woman in the Taghnaven area of Lurgan shortly after midnight on Monday.
The woman opened her back door after hearing a knock at her window and was confronted by a man who forced her to the floor and subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
The attacker was of large build, 5`8" in height and had stubble on his chin. Shortly after he left the house it is believed that a car sped off from the vicinity.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lurgan detectives on 028 3832 5144 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

A bomb-blasted former soldier has appeared in court in Belfast charged with rape and false imprisonment. Gerald Verner, 23, of Forthriver Park, who was deafened by a bomb in Afghanistan, is also accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm, sexual assault and threats to kill against the same woman.

Six Men Arrested Over Serious Sexual Assault
Six men have been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault in south Belfast. The attack is believed to have happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 19 September. An investigation has launched and the suspects are helping the PSNI with their enquiries.

Police are investigating a sexual assault on a woman that occurred in Lurgan Park on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. The incident took place at approximately 7.55am as the woman, who had been walking her dogs, returned to her vehicle. She was grabbed by an unknown man and forcibly groped.

Fresh Appeal For Information On Shane Whitla Murder
PSNI detectives investigating the murder of 39-year-old Shane Whitla in Lurgan have issued an appeal for information and witnesses. A post-mortem examination confirmed that Mr Whitla died of a gunshot wound to the chest. According to report, he had also suffered a serious puncture wound to his neck.
