Controlled explosion carried out on suspect device

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspect device in Co Armagh on Friday.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene of the suspicious device which was discovered shortly before 5am on Friday following a telephone warning.

The area was immediately cordoned off and families were moved from their homes while further examinations were carried out. The area was later declared safe.

Elsewhere overnight, police in Enniskillen have recovered over £7,000 worth of class ‘A’ and class ‘C’ drugs in the town.

One man and two women have been arrested and are currently helping police with their enquiries following the planned police operation which took place on Thursday.

Probe Over Armed Robbery In Belfast City Centre

SF warns over 'diluting' Agreement

Arrest Over Armed Robbery Of Cash In Transit Van
A 32 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a cash in transit delivery vehicle in Belfast City Centre. The suspect was detained following searches of three properties in the Divis area of west Belfast on Thursday night, 12 March. The incident occured in the Academy Street area at around 7.

Cash Stolen In Co Down Burglary
A sum of cash has been stolen from a house in Portaferry, Co Down. Police are appealing for information following the burglary on Monday evening, 09 March. Entry was forced to the property in the Ballyblack Road area sometime between 2pm and 7pm that day. The owners returned to discover a quantity of money had been taken.

Co Antrim firm fined following construction site death
A Co Antrim building firm have been prosecuted following the death of a construction worker at a site in Coleraine in 2001. J. Kennedy and Co (Contractors) Ltd were fined £25,000 following the incident in which during a lifting operation a bale of steel reinforcing mesh fell on top of two workers at a building site in Coleraine.
