Body discovered on Strangford Lough

The badly decomposed body of a man has been discovered on a stretch of shoreline near Portaferry, County Down.

Police were called to the scene after a member of the public who was walking on the beach near Quintin Castle, discovered the body at around 10.30am.

The man is understood to have been wearing a pair of Wrangler jeans and black lace-up shoes.

While the PSNI are to carry out an investigation into the discovery it could be some time before the man's identity is established.

A post mortem examination is due to be conducted in Belfast.

Police added that it is too early to say if there were any suspicious circumstances.

Man's Body Discovered In Co Down
A man has been arrested after a body was discovered in Holywood, Co Down. The body of a man, aged in his 40s, was found at a house in the Ballydavey Cottages area on Sunday, 05 June, according to the police. The 53-year-old suspect has been arrested and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
