Youths released after pensioner robbery

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been released from police custody, following the mugging of an 81-year-old woman in North Belfast on Sunday morning.

The pensioner was walking near the Sommerton Road junction of Fortwilliam Park, when her handbag was snatched.

The woman was not injured in the attack, and her bag was later found at Ardavon Park.

Police said that the boys have been released pending reports.

In East Belfast, police have carried out searches and arrested six men at around 6pm on Saturday evening.

The PSNI have said that the arrests were in connection with serious crime in the area.

Meanwhile in County Tyrone, a shot has been fire during an armed robbery at a bookmaker's in Sion Mills.

Two masked men, one armed with a gun entered the premises on the Melmont Road and threatened the owner and two staff members, before demanding cash.

A shot was fired but no one was hurt.

Police have asked for anyone with information relating to any of these incidents to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or on 0800 555 111.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In South Belfast
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following an arson attack at a property in south Belfast. At approximately 10.20pm on Saturday, 13 April, police received a report of a fire at a house in the Kilburn Street area. Police attended the scene alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

The Alliance Party has welcomed the news that the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly Economic Affairs Committee will conduct an inquiry into childcare. The committee will seek evidence from a wide range of interested parties as part of a review into the importance of childcare as economic infrastructure across the UK and Ireland.

Two Men Jailed For 'Horrific And Callous' Murder Of Roy Reynolds
Two men have been jailed at Belfast Crown Court in connection with the "horrific and callous" murder of Roy Reynolds in County Antrim in 2022. Michael Campbell, 34, was handed a life sentence last December after pleading guilty to Mr Reynold's murder.

Appeal After Masked Men Force Entry Into Home Of Elderly Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after five masked me forced entry into the home of an man aged in his 70s, on the Saintfield Road. Police received a report shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, 17th February that between 10pm and 10.30pm on the same evening, five masked men entered a house in the Saintfield Road area.
