Petrol bombs thrown at police
Petrol bombers in the Shantallow area of Londonderry attacked police vehicles on Sunday.
The attack occurred at around 8.00pm near to a community centre in Drumleck Gardens.
Police were called to a disturbance in which a number of men are understood to have broken into a house and threatened the occupants.
A police spokesperson said one person was arrested at the scene. Officers in the area came under sustained attack by a small crowd throwing petrol bombs and other missiles.
A Police Land Rover was set on fire and firefighters also came under attack when they reached the scene.
During the melee a second man arrested and handcuffed at the scene is reported to have escaped from custody.

Police officers responding to reports of a burning car have been attacked with petrol bombs and paint in east Belfast. The PSNI attended the scene at Castelereagh Street at around 23:15 on Tuesday when they came under attack from youths throwing petrol bombs and paint.

Police officers have come under attack with petrol bombs and paint in north Belfast on Monday. Up to 100 people confronted officers as they attempted to make arrests after two devices were thrown at police in Henry Street near Carlisle Circus at about 7.30pm.

Police attacked with petrol bombs
Police in Lurgan have been attacked with petrol bombs after investigating a suspect device on Sunday afternoon. A police patrol had checked an area around Tannathmore School at about 2pm following a telephoned bomb warning. Army technical officers later declared the object a hoax.

PSNI Confirms Flag Violence Arrests
The PSNI has confirmed a total of eight arrests were made as a result of disorder over the Belfast City Hall union flag issue. Three police officers were injured when missiles ranging from petrol bombs, paint bombs, fireworks and heavy masonry were thrown by loyalist protesters. PSNI vehicles were attacked with hatchets and sledge hammers.

Two remanded in custody following weekend violence
Two people, one a teenage youth, have been remanded in custody in connection with charges made following disturbances at a bonfire in Ballymena, Co Antrim at the weekend.
