Pensioners robbed in County Antrim home

An elderly couple have been robbed in their County Antrim home yesterday afternoon.

The woman is reported to have answered the door of her home on the Dungonnell Road in Crumlin just after 2.30pm when four men forced their way into the property.

One of the men held the couple, who were in their 80's, in the kitchen, while the others ransacked a bedroom, stealing an undisclosed sum of money.

Before they left, one of the robbers searched the husband and stole the contents of his pockets.

The couple were not injured during the incident, but are said to have been left badly shaken by their ordeal.

Police believe that the thieves escaped in a silver coloured Volkswagen Passat estate, and have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the car in the area or have any information relating to the robbery, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
