Funeral of Steven Colwell takes place

The funeral has taken place of the man shot dead by police in County Down last weekend.

23-year-old Steven Colwell suffered a fatal gunshot wound after the stolen car which he was driving failed to stop at a police checkpoint in Ballynahinch in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning.

Mr Colwell, was originally from the Shankhill Road area of Belfast, but had recently moved to an address in Cullybackey.

The funeral service was a private affair held at his family home at Forthriver Link in Belfast before he was finally laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.

The circumstances behind the shooting are currently being investigated by the police ombudsman's office and the Northern Ireland policing board are to question Chief Constable Sir Hugh Orde over the incident at a meeting on May 3.
