Man due in court charged with attempted murder

A 34-year-old man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.

The charge relates to an attack on a 50-year-old man in east Belfast, on Tuesday.

Police received a report at around 10.30pm on Tuesday night that a man had been seriously assaulted on the Greenville Road in the Beersbridge Road area of the city.

The victim had been kicked and punched and was taken to hospital where he received treatment for serious injuries.

A 19-year-old woman, who was also being held for questioning in relation to the attack, has been released while police carry out further investigations.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Off licence robbed in south Belfast
A man armed with a handgun has robbed an off-licence in the University Road area of south Belfast. Shortly after 7pm, a man entered the premises and produced a handgun and demanded money from the till. The man made off with an undisclosed sum of money.
