Pensioner robbed by bogus caller

A pensioner has been robbed by a bogus caller at his home in east Belfast yesterday evening.

The caller, claiming to be a representative from an electricity company, called to the man's home on Bright Street in the Albertbridge Road area of the city at around 6pm last night.

The robber did not produce identification or gain entry to the victim's house, however he convinced the man that he was there to install an electric meter and persuaded him to hand over £400.

The man is described as around 45-year-old, with blonde hair and was wearing a three-quarter length, blue coloured, store workers jacket.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have any information relating to it, to contact them on 0845 600 800, or on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
