Employment service opens doors for jobseekers
Local jobseekers looking for work across Europe can now do so, thanks to a new innovation from EURES (European Employment Services).
EURES Web Services, a new package, which will be available on Job Points in all Jobs and Benefits Offices and JobCentres, is aimed to enhance the current service to jobseekers by providing easier access to vacancies throughout the European Economic Area.
The new technology will provide details of a wide range of jobs, enabling local people, or non-nationals, to search for vacancies from any country.
Daragh Shields, Assistant Director at the Department for Employment and Learning, today unveiled the new service at Newry Jobs and Benefits Office.
He said: “The technology we are launching today will help us provide an improved service to all of our clients.
“During this, the European Year of Workers’ Mobility, we, in Northern Ireland, have become increasingly aware of the mobility of the workforce, not least through the numbers of non-nationals seeking employment here. This new service will be crucial in helping meet the demands of an increasingly complex labour force, providing a complete European Jobs Service."
He continued: “Those seeking employment can now broaden their horizons and make full use of the opportunities that exist across the European Economic Area.”
The service is available on Job Points, which is located in all 35 Jobs and Benefits Offices and JobCentres throughout Northern Ireland.
It can also be accessed through the Northern Ireland employment service website www.jobcentreonline.com or through the EURES portal www.eures-jobs.com.
