Two charged over child pornography

Two men arrested on Tuesday in connection with an investigation into child pornography in Northern Ireland have been charged with possessing and making indecent images of children.

The men were arrested yesterday following a series of police raids investigating a major internet child pornography racket. They will appear in court at a later date.

Five others who were also arrested following the searches, have been released on police bail.

A PSNI spokesperson said that a significant number of premises had been searched, during which, officers seized a number of computer hard drives other materials, which are currently being examined.

The operation was part of a major crime investigation, alongside the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.

Men Arrested In Connection With Right-Wing Extremism Released
Four men arrested in connection with right-wing extremism have been released. The men, aged 29, 30, 36 and 46, were arrested following house searches in Ballymena and Coleraine on Wednesday, 26 October. The men have been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Belfast man jailed over internet child porn
A Belfast father of three has today been jailed by the Crown Court for two-and-a-half years for downloading Internet child pornography. Robert Steele, 25, from Tildarg Street pleaded guilty to downloading 275 pictures and 60 movie files and was ordered to remain on the police sex offenders register for the rest of his life.

Police Release Man Arrested In Connection With INLA Criminality
A man arrested in connection with organised criminality linked to the INLA has now been released. The 38-year-old suspect was detained by the PSNI's Reactive and Organised Crime branch following searches in the West Belfast area on Wednesday, 05 July. He has now been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Man Arrested Following Police Searches In Belfast
A man in his 30s has been arrested following several police searches in Belfast. The searches were carried out in the Shankill area on Friday morning, 02 September. They are part of an "ongoing commitment to tackle the supply of illegal drugs in the Belfast area", according to a PSNI spokesperson.
