Man killed in crash with police vehicle
UPDATED: A 22-year-old man has died following a serious road traffic collision on the outskirts of Belfast.
The car in which the victim, named as Darryl Faulkner, was a passenger was in collision with a police Land Rover on the Hightown Road in Glengormley just before 10am today.
It is understood that police were following the car and a stinger device had been used before the incident occurred.
Another man and a number of police officers were also injured during the crash and have been conveyed to hospital where the extent of their injuries is not yet known.
The Police Ombudsman's office has been informed and is carrying out an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
A spokesperson for the Police Ombudsman said: "Our investigators are at the scene, and forensic scientists and scenes of crime officers are being tasked to attend.
"A family liaison officer will be appointed to support the man's family.
"We would be keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and would appeal for anyone with information to contact us 028 90 828 770."

The PSNI named the brothers as Samuel Holmes, 75, and Desmond Holmes, 82. PSNI Roads Inspector Cherith Adair said police received a report of the collision at about 1.10pm.
