Post mortem due after suspicious death
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in west Belfast yesterday afternoon.
The body of the man, who has been named locally as Philip Thompson from the Woodvale area, was discovered close to the Ballygomartin River, off the Forthriver Road, at around 3.45pm yesterday.
A post-mortem examination is to be carried out later to day to determine the cause of death, which police are currently treating as suspicious.
Detectives in west Belfast are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed a fight in the area sometime between 8pm and 10pm on Monday evening, or who may have any information in connection to the death, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Lagan body not thought to be suspicious
Police have revealed that the death of a man whose body was recovered from the River Lagan yesterday was not suspicious. The body, believed to be that of a man in his 30s, was spotted yesterday morning by rowers in the Stranmillis area of south Belfast.

Police are treating the discovery of a body in south Belfast yesterday as suspicious. The victim, who is believed to be a man in his 40's, was discovered at a house in Penrose Street, off the Ormeau Road shortly before 1.55pm yesterday afternoon by a contractor due to carry out repairs on the property.
