Man remanded over Strabane rape charge

A 22-year-old man who appeared at Omagh Magistrates Court this morning charged in connection with a serious sexual assault in County Tyrone in the early hours of yesterday morning, has denied the charges.

Dennis Hugh McDermott, 22, from Newtown Place, Strabane, appeared in court charged with rape and causing grievous bodily harm.

The charges are connected to the rape of a woman in aged in her 20s in the Derry Road area of Strabane at around 1am yesterday.

A solicitor for the defendant told the court that the woman had gone to his house and had consented to have sex with him.

He was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on November 23.

Woman Arrested Following Craigavon Search Operation
A 33-year-old woman has been arrested by the PSNI's Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) following a search in the Craigavon area on Tuesday 27th February. As a result of the search, a quantity of suspected Class B controlled drugs were seized, alongside cash and mobile devices. The items were taken away for further forensic examination.

Woman And Children Held Captive In Aggravated Burglary
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after a woman and four young children were held captive as their home was ransacked in an aggravated burglary in East Belfast on Saturday, 06 April. Police received a report that around 10.45pm, four masked men entered a house in the Greenwood Hill area of Castlereagh.

63-Year-Old Woman Arrested Over Stabbing In Antrim
A 63-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Antrim on Friday, 26 January. Shortly after 5.10am police received a report that a man, aged in his 40s, had been stabbed at a property in the Firmount Drive area of the town. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his upper body area.
