Security man robbed in County Antrim

Police in County Antrim have appealed for information following the robbery of a security van earlier today.

The incident happened at around 9.30am today, when two men approached the driver of a Securicor van in the Bow Street area of Lisburn and stole a large quantity of cash. The pair then made off on foot towards Green Street, where they made their escape in a green coloured Saab car.

The robbers then drove to the Magheralave Road area of the city, where they abandoned the car, before getting into a silver coloured vehicle, which was seen a short time later at around 9.40am driving along the Belfast Road with one of the men holding a black box with smoke coming from it, out of the window.

One of the thieves is described as being aged in his 20s, around 5'10 in height, and of medium build. He was wearing a black coloured beanie hat, a black jacket, black or navy tracksuit bottoms with white stripes and trainers.

There is no description of the second man.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or noticed anything in connection with it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
