Woman assaulted by robbers in County Antrim

Detectives in County Antrim have appealed for information after a robbery yesterday evening.

The incident happened shortly after 9.40pm, when a woman who was locking the door of a flat in the Main Street area of Ballyclare, was approached by two men.

The men ordered the woman to open the door and when she refused she was punched in the arm, dropping a wallet, which she was carrying.

The woman then ran off and locked herself in her car, while the robbers made off with a substantial sum of money from the wallet.

The first robber is described as being aged between 19 and 21-years-old, around 5' 6" tall, and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark coloured boiler suit, a scarf around his neck, a baseball cap and is said to have spoke with a local accent.

The second man is described as being around 19-years-old, of slim build and was wearing a navy tracksuit.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or who may know the identity of those responsible for carrying out the attack, are asked to contact detectives in Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
