Dublin Firm In Landmark Deal On Trade Mission

A top-level trade mission to the Middle East has started with a Dublin telecoms firm striking a landmark deal in Saudi Arabia which will see up to 40 jobs created in the future, according to the Irish Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin.

Minister Martin said that Dublin 12 based Vilicom is becoming the first company to open a 100% Irish owned base in the Kingdom and is expected to take a frontline role in the roll out of 3G technology in Saudi Arabia.

"The opening of this office in Riyadh marks an important step forward in our business relationship with the region. It shows Irish firms can compete with the best in the world in the high tech sector. Saudi Arabia and the entire Middle East represent huge potential for Irish firms. Over the coming days the Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission led by the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, TD, will see almost 120 Irish firms establishing valuable links in the region, which should result in a major increase in trade, exports and jobs" concluded Minister Martin.
