Man released on bail over attempted hijacking incident

The man arrested over the weekend in connection with an attempted hijacking incident in west Belfast, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The incident happened shortly before 5pm on Sunday evening, when a driver, who was moving his van out of a car-wash in a petrol station on the Falls Road, was approached by an unknown male, who tried to pull him out of his vehicle and steal his keys.

The victim reported the incident to police and a man was arrested a short time later in the vicinity of the nearby City Cemetery.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident at a property in the Cliftonville Road area of North Belfast. Man Released On Bail After Student Dies In Road Incident
A man, 29, has been released on police bail after a student was killed in a collision in south Belfast last week. Enda Dolan, from Killyclogher in Omagh, was struck by a van on the Malone Road on Wednesday 15th October. A 29-year-old, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been freed pending further inquiries.

Man Released On Bail Over College Stabbing Incident
A man, 20, who was arrested in connection with a stabbing at a college in Belfast has been released on bail. Police said the man was released pending further enquiries. A 26-year-old is currently in hospital following the incident at Belfast Metropolitan College on Thursday. His condition is described as serious but stable.

Man Killed In Farming Incident
A man has died in a farming accident in Co Fermanagh. The victim, 71, is thought to have been attacked by cattle on his farm near Ballinamallard. The incident happened over the weekend. An investigation is now being carried out by the Health and Safety Executive.
