Hijacking incident in County Armagh

Police in County Armagh have appealed for information following a hijacking incident yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened on the Lower Foughill Road in Jonesborough at around 2.40pm, when two women who were travelling in a light green coloured BMW, were approached by three males.

The hijackers knocked the female passenger, a woman aged in her 80s, to the ground, before forcing the driver out of the vehicle and making off in the car.

The pensioner was taken to hospital for treatment after the incident, however her injuries were not serious. Both women were left badly shaken by their ordeal.

Detectives investigating the incident believe the attack may be linked to two other attempted hijackings in the area earlier in the day.

Anyone who may have witnessed the hijacking or anyone with any information on any of the incidents should contact police on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
