First super-college to be created in Belfast

The city of Belfast is to get it's first super-college.

Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education will merge with Castlereagh College in August this year and will be known as the Belfast Metropolitan College.

The merger is expected to be the first of six super-colleges, which the Department of Education is planning to create throughout Northern Ireland.

The plans for the college, as well as the course prospectus for next year are due to be released later today.
