Two killed in separate car accidents
Two people have been killed within a 12-hour period following separate road traffic accidents in Co Londonderry.
At around 8am this morning a woman was killed when her car collided with a lorry close to Shackleton Barracks in Ballykelly.
A man in the car and the driver of the lorry escaped serious injury but were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police have appealed for motorists to avoid the Ballykelly area where diversions are currently in operation.
The accident followed less than 12 hours after a soldier was killed in Limavady last night.
Corporal Keith Lewis, from Middlesbrough in north-east England, who was based at Shackleton Barracks, was driving a car which was in collision with another vehicle at around 9.30pm last night.
A two-year-old boy and his grandmother, who were in the other car, were taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry for treatment to their injuries.
While the child was discharged after treatment his grandmother was detained overnight. Her condition is said to be stable.

Man Killed In Car Collision
A man has been killed in a car crash in Londonderry. Two other people have also been injured in the accident, which happened after midnight on Thursday at Alder Road. Two cars were involved in the accident. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Driver killed as car collides with lamppost
A 22-year-old man has been killed in a road traffic accident in Belfast. The accident occurred on the King's Road in Knock area shortly before midnight on Monday October 28. The man, who has not yet been named, died when his car struck a lamppost. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident.

The accident happened on the Railway Road at around 9.15pm on Monday. The girl is the third child to die on Northern Ireland's roads this year.
