Bullman sentenced to four years

A 32-year-old chef has been sentenced to four years in prison following a conviction for membership of the IRA.

Don Bullman from Fernwood Crescent in Wilton was arrested in Dublin in 2004 by Gardai investigating money laundering following the £26m Northern Bank robbery in Belfast.

Bullman was found to have a washing powder box containing over 94,000 euro.

No evidence was presented at the trial regarding the source of the money.

He was sentenced today at Dublin's Special Criminal Court Mr Justice Paul Butler said that he wished to make it clear that Bullman was being sentenced solely for the charges relating to IRA membership.

Sentencing Bullman, Mr Justice Butler said that he had taken a number of mitigating circumstances into consideration.
