Funeral held for murdered man

The funeral of one of the two men murdered in Belfast this week has taken place today.

Edward Burns, 36, from Ardoyne was found with a bullet wound to the head on the Falls Road in west Belfast on Monday.

The body of the father-of-five was found in a car park near St Gall’s GAA club.

Requiem Mass was held at Holy Cross Church in Ardoyne and he was buried at Milltown Cemetery in west Belfast.

Another man, Joe Jones, 38 was also found dead near Elmfield Street in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast on the same day.

It is understood a man has been assisting police with their enquiries in relation to both murders.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Conor McKee
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Conor McKee. Mr McKee was found dead at his home in Glenpark Street in north Belfast on Thursday, 07 January. He had been shot a number of times. The suspect is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

Co Antrim Man Found Dead In Ibiza Sustained Head Injuries
A County Antrim man found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza sustained head injuries, according to Ireland's expert State Pathologist. Alan Drennan, 21, was found dead just 24 hours after arriving in Ibiza. Mr Drennan was detained by Spanish police when he arrived on the holiday island, and friends claim that he was attacked by the police.

Man Found With Head Injury In West Belfast
A man has been found with a head injury next to a car in west Belfast. Shortly before 1.25am in the morning of Thursday 08 November the victim was found next to what police described as a "damaged, older model, black-coloured Ford Fiesta" in the Clonavogie Gardens area of west Belfast.

Woman Charged After Man Found Stabbed In West Belfast
A man is being treated in hospital after he was found with stab wounds in west Belfast. Police said that a 57-year-old man was found at about 02:50 on Sunday on Conway Street suffering stab wounds. A 45-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident a short time later. She is due to appear in court today charged with attempted murder.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
