Man Airlifted From Vessel In County Down

A man is being treated in hospital following a rescue mission by the Coastguard off the coast of County Down.

The man was airlifted to Daisy Hill hospital in Newry from a fishing vessel off Kilkeel. It is understood that the man became ill on board the boat at around 6.00pm yesterday evening.

The Kilkeel lifeboat and the Irish Coastguard helicopter from Dublin attended the scene.

Storms Stop Searches For Missing Man
Searches for a man swept out to sea at Ramore Head in Portrush on Saturday have been hampered by poor weather conditions. A search by the police and coastguard did resume on Sunday morning, but strong winds made conditions too dangerous to continuing searching. It is understood the missing man is 38-years-old and is a Polish national.

Health Minister To Seek Deferral Of All Hospital Parking Charges
Health Minister, Robin Swann, has announced that he will seek a deferral to legislation to remove all hospital parking charges from 12 May, 2024. Minister Swann said that he will ask the Assembly to defer the measure for a two year period.

Man Dies After Portstewart Harbour Fall
A man who died on Tuesday evening after falling into the sea near Portstewart harbour in L'Derry has been named as Stanley Duncan, chief executive of the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in Northern Ireland. Mr Duncan is reported to have been fishing close to the shore at Victoria Terrace before 17:00 when the incident occurred.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.
