Teen Rape Accused Refused Bail
A 14-year-old boy accused of raping a German student in a North Belfast park was out on bail at the time.
The High Court heard that the boy, who cannot be named, had been freed from a juvenile remand centre on criminal damage and assault charges.
He is charged with the rape and attempted rape of a 19-year-old gap year student at Woodvale Park last December. He was refused bail on Thursday.
A co-accused, also aged 14, has not applied for bail and is in custody.
Objecting to the boy's release, Crown counsel Kate McKay said: "He is a dangerous young man who is a danger to the public and should remain in custody because of the risk of reoffending."
Lord Justice Girvan refused the bail application.
