Arson Attack Damages Heavy Plant Equipment

Police are investigating an incident on Thursday night where damage estimated at over £62,000 was caused in Newtownards, Co. Down.

A police spokesperson said that three diggers were maliciously set alight at around 11am on Thursday night. The resulting fire destroyed three items of plant equipment at the Greengrades Road.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Sports Firm Burgled In South Belfast
Police suspect a vehicle was used to break into a business in south Belfast. Thieves made off with a large quantity of sports clothing during a break in at Teamwear Ireland on Stockmans Way. Cricket equipment, three laptops, an iPad and a sum of money was also stolen. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Police Vehicle Attacked In East Belfast
A police vehicle has been attacked with petrol bombs in east Belfast on Thursday night. The incident happened in St Patrick's Walk at around 8pm. Three petrol bombs were thrown at the vehicle, however there were no reports of any injuries or damage. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Computer equipment seized by police
Police have seized computer equipment during planned searches in west Belfast last night. A number of computer disks were also confiscated by police during a search of six houses in Lenadoon and Andersonstown.

Police chief announces three police stations to close
Acting Northern Ireland chief constable Colin Cramphorn has announced that only three police stations from an original list of around 20 are to be closed.
