Pensioner Pleads Guilty To Sex Offences

A pensioner already serving time in prison, has pleaded guilty to 32 sex offences today.

The 71-year-old man admitted the charges involving four members of his own family, on the first day of his trial at Londonderry Crown Court.

The offences date back to January 1967 and occurred over an 11-year period when all of his victims were children.

The man is currently serving time in prison for sex offences.

Names of all those involved in the case cannot be named for legal reasons.

Sex Attack Victims 'Under Age'
Over half of victims of sex crime in Northern Ireland are under 18. That's according to PSNI figures that show 56% of all victims of reported sex abuse – including rape, indecent assault and indecent exposure – between 2008 and 2009 were under 18, with an average of three sex offences against children recorded every day.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Man Injured After Shots Fired At House In Rathfriland
An investigation has been launched after shots were fired at a house in Rathfriland in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, 05 March. Police received a report that two shots had been fired through the front window of a house in the Wright's Park area at around 12.35am, causing minor injuries to a man who was in the living room at the time.

Man Arrested In Connection With Serious Assault In East Belfast
A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault in east Belfast on Thursday 29th February. At approximately 11.20pm last night police were called to a property in the Montrose Street area following the report of an injured woman.
