Masked Gang Shoot Man In Strabane

Police are appealing for information after an attack by a masked gang left a man in hospital with gunshot wounds in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

The 30-year-old man was shot in both knees and shoulder in the Springhill Park area shortly before 10pm last night.

Three men wearing balaclavas forced their way into the front of a house while another three entered through the rear of the property.

The victim was then taken to a nearby alleyway where he was shot several times.

Police say that two members of the gang drove off in a white van while the remaining four left on foot in different directions.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
