Strabane family escapes arson attack

A family of four have had a lucky escape after arsonists pushed a firework through the letterbox of their home in County Londonderry.

The woman and her three children were asleep in their house in the Brambles area of Strabane when the arsonists struck in the early hours of this morning.

The family were alerted when a fire alarm went off and no injuries were reported.

However, the resulting fire caused minor smoke damage and scorched a section of the hallway.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
