Arrests Follow Bishop Street Murder Bid

Detectives working on the attempted murder of an off-duty policeman in Londonderry earlier this month have arrested two men.

The gun attack on a 43-year-old PSNI man took place after he dropped his son off at a school in Bishop Street on 8 November.

He was struck on his face and arm but was able to drive himself to a nearby police station.

He was shot at through the driver's side window with what was believed to have been a shotgun.

A car used in the attack was later found burned-out in the Creggan area of the city.

The PSNI has said the suspects were arrested at their homes in the Derry and are being questioned at Antrim police station.
