Derry Man Faces Drugs Trial

A police search of a Londonderry man's home last year has led to a court appearance on drugs charges.

A 26-year-old computer technician from the Bogside area of Derry has admitted being in possession of a quantity of crystal ecstasy.

The drugs were found in his home by the police last year.

Rory McCann of Westland Mews admitted committing the offence on November 3 of 2006.

During his arraignment before the city's Crown Court yesterday, McCann also admitted possessing herbal cannabis with intent to supply, possessing cannabis resin and possessing 31 ecstasy tablets.

Two further charges, which the defendant has denied, of possessing herbal cannabis and cannabis resin, have been left on the books not to be proceeded with, without leave of the court.

The defendant also denied a charge of possessing the ecstasy tablets with intent to supply them. He was remanded on continuing bail.
