Man and woman escape injury in gun attack

A man and woman escaped injury last night after a gun attack in Ballynahinch.

The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Wednesday night when two shots were fired through the front door and kitchen window of the house in Brian Drive.

The couple were upstairs at the time of the incident.

Police say a shotgun was used in the attack but they still have not established a motive for the shooting.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.
