Foyle Fall Fatal

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fall from Londonderry's Foyle Bridge.

The 35-year-old victim - a man - died in hospital last night following an incident on the Foyle Bridge earlier in the evening. It is believed that he had been found on the rocks underneath the bridge.

The bridge was closed in both directions following the incident, which happened at around 5.40pm. It reopened shortly after 7pm.

Meanwhile, a police car was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the time of the incident.

A spokesman said the woman driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital, but it is understood that no one was in the police car at the time of the collision.

Police said last night that a crime is not suspected over the man's death.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the Foyle Bridge area to contact them at Strand Road police station.
