Man Held On Bangor B&B Killing

PSNI detectives investigating the murder of a 68-year-old guesthouse owner in Bangor have arrested a man. Billy Spence was beaten and stabbed in his Tara Guesthouse on the Co Down town's Princetown Road sometime after 10pm on Monday.

Deadly Car Chase Probed

A high speed car chase ended in tragedy in the early hours of this morning with a 25-year-old man killed during a police car chase. The victim was the passenger in one of two cars attempting to evade officers in west Belfast in the early hours. The blue Honda Civic crashed when it left the Glenside Road in Hannastown at around 1.50am. The 25-year-old driver was arrested. One of the vehicles involved rammed a police car on the nearby Rock Road.

Woman In Court On Shiels Charge

A charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice is being heard this morning as an 18-year-old woman appears in Londonderry Magistrates Court, charged in relation to the death of 22-year-old Emmett Shiels. Who was shot in the Bligh's Lane area of Londonderry last month. Meanwhile, detectives have been granted extensions to question three other men - aged 16, 17 and 18 - arrested in the city earlier this week and police last night arrested a 16-year-old girl in connection with the death of Mr Shiels.

US Cops Kill Dubliner As NI Man Held For Aussie Killings

As news breaks that a 20-year-old Irishman has been shot dead by police in the US state of Oregon, a man believed to be originally from Northern Ireland, has been accused of hacking his wife and two grandchildren to death with an axe in Australia. Andrew Hanlon, from Dundrum in Dublin, who had been living in the US since last July, was shot dead on Monday night as police investigated a house break-in. Meanwhile, as John Walsh, 69, appeared in court in Australia charged with the horrific triple murder, it has emerged that he was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour. He was accused of killing his Scottish wife Jean, 52, grandson Kevin, seven, and granddaughter Jaime, five, as well as badly wounding his daughter Shelley. Christina Boswell, 59, from Aberdeen, said her brother-in-law had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour and did not have long to live. She said the news had "changed him" from the fun-loving character she had known.

Australian Death Hits Co Donegal

A 25-year-old Co Donegal man has been killed in an accident in Australia. Graduate accountant Rory McMenamin from Newtowncunningham had been working at a tyre depot in the Sherwood area of Brisbane. It is understood he was changing a tyre on a truck when it collapsed on top of him. He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries. Mr McMenamin had been in Australia since Christmas where he was taking an extended working break after graduation.

Police arrest Coleraine man in connection with killing
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Coleraine in connection with the murder of a Londonderry man in September. Darren Thompson, 22, from Harkness Gardens in the Waterside area of the city, was found lying at the roadside in Woodburn Park with a bullet wound to the head.

Loyalists linked to fatal shooting in east Belfast
Loyalists are believed to be behind the killing of a man at an east Belfast industrial estate early this morning. The 34-year-old victim was sitting in his car at Alanbrooke Road off Montgomery Road shortly before 8am when he was shot dead. The man, who is understood to have LVF connections, was treated by an ambulance crew but died at the scene.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Woman Arrested After Sudden Death Of Man In L'Derry
A woman has been arrested following the sudden death of a man in Magherafelt. A 46-year-old man died in L'Derry in the early hours of Tuesday, 05 December. Police are treating the death as suspicious. A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
