Hijack Pair For Court

Two men are to appear in court in Co Down later today charged with kidnapping and hijacking.

The men, aged 40 and 19, were arrested by the PSNI in Co Armagh. They are to appear at Newry Magistrates Court, (pictured).

The charges are believed to relate to to an incident in the Castleblayney area of Co Monaghan on Monday night.

It is alleged that a taxi driver was held at gunpoint and then forced to drive across the border during a garda pursuit.

Gardaí were reportedly originally attempting to make arrests following a search in a home in Castleblayney during which a firearm was recovered from a house at Ardnalorgan.

The car was pursued by gardaí until it crossed the border at Keady, Co Armagh.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested following the initial search operation and was being held at Castleblayney Garda Station, before being later released pending enquiries.

PSNI Name Kilkeel Murder Victim As Bobbie McKee
The PSNI's Major Investigation Team have named the man who was murdered in Kilkeel on Thursday, 21st March as Bobbie McKee. Mr McKee, who was 69-years-old, was pronounced dead after his body was located in a property in the Newcastle Road area last Thursday afternoon following a report of a concern for safety for a couple.
