Family of missing tourist to arrive in Donegal

The family of a missing German tourist who disappeared in County Donegal last week are expected to arrive in the area today.

They have been asked by Gardaí to help them identify a female body that was washed ashore yesterday afternoon just outside Glencolmcille.

It is believed the body is that of missing 22-year-old German backpacker Constancze Czerwinske.

The body was washed ashore late on Tuesday afternoon near Glen Head, beside Glencolmcille where the young woman was last seen.

The body was transported to Letterkenny General Hospital in assist in the formal identification.

Constancze was reported missing eight days ago when she failed to return to her hostel in Glencolmcille after setting out for a walk.

Gardaí officers, mountain rescue teams and a police Water Unit were involved in the search for the young German tourist.

Ms Czerwinske was last seen heading towards an area known as Glen Head, which has a spectacular view of the surrounding cliffs and ocean. It is feared that the young German woman could have fallen and been swept out to sea.

The owner of the hostel raised the alarm last Wednesday morning after she failed to return.
