Dunnes Managers Expect "Significant Announcement"
Speculation over the rumoured takeover of Dunnes Stores by the British supermarket chain Asda have shifted up a gear following an unscheduled management briefing.
According to reports on Thursday morning, Dunnes Stores management were briefed to expect a "significant announcement" today, although any details are yet to emerge.
Dunnes and Asda have both refused to comment on the takeover speculation, but Dunnes did announce last night that it was creating 169 jobs at a new store in Tipperary.
Asda is the UK incarnation of US retailer Wal-Mart, and all parties involved in the rumours declined to comment on the possible deal.

Retail giant Asda have announced it is to invest over £500m in its UK stores creating some 5,000 jobs across the country. The supermarket confirmed plans to open 25 new stores across and three depots in 2012 as well as extend and refurbish 43 of its existing stores.

Clearhill Announce £1.4m Asda Partnership
Clearhill, a leisure vending company based in Banbridge, has a new £1.4 million partnership deal with supermarket chain Asda. The company will supply 112 Asda supermarket stores with it's products, which includes children's rides, toy carts and photo booths.
