Two More Charged Over Loyalist Murder
Two men in their 30s have appeared in court, charged with the murder of a leading loyalist more than eight years ago.
Paramilitary Tommy English was assassinated in front of his family at his Ballyduff estate home, amid a simmering loyalist feud.
The father of three had been a member of the UDP's Stormont talks team prior to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
Suspects Samuel Higgins, 32, of The Meadow, and Philip Laffin, 31, from Bridge Street, were today remanded in custody, neither men having applied for bail.
Higgins was also accused of hijacking, false imprisonment and membership of the Ulster Volunteer Force between 1996 and 2000.
A kidnapping charge against Laffin was withdrawn.
Two other men - alleged police informer Mark Haddock and 36-year-old Darren Moore - have already been charged in connection with the October 2000 shooting.
Moore, appearing in court last week, denied the charges. He was also accused of two counts of membership of Ulster Volunteer Force and later remanded in custody.
The prosecution said the only evidence against them came from two brothers who were originally charged with the killing but later admitted lesser offences.
David Stewart, 38, and and Robert Stewart, 34, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the murder of 40-year-old Mr English.
They have both since implicated 10 other men in the Historical Enquiries Team investigation.
