Weekend Rail Tragedy Hits Seaside Resort

There was a tragic end to a weekend night out when a teenager died on the railway line near the seaside town of Portrush.

Ryan Quinn (14) was killed when hit by a train on Friday night.

Police investigating the death of Ryan, from Portrush, but who had been living in nearby Coleraine, think he might have been chased just before the fatal incident.

Police believe the teenager had been socialising in McLaughlin's bar and want to speak to anyone who witnessed a row either inside or outside the pub.

It is understood Ryan fled down a narrow pathway before somehow getting onto the tracks.

He is also said to have phoned his father looking for help just moments before being hit by a passing train.

Train operator Translink is assisting the police with the investigation.

Today, the PSNI freed four people they were questioning in connection with the death.

The three men and a 15-year-old boy were initially held by the PSNI over the weekend, but have since been released on bail.
