Tommy English Murder, Two More In Court

A total of 11 people have now been charged with the murder of Ulster Defence Association (UDA) man Tommy English, the police have said.

The fresh charges over the killing of the 40-year-old, who was shot dead in front of his wife at their home in Newtownabbey during a loyalist UDA/UVF feud in October 2000, were heard at Laganside Magistrates Court today.

David Miller, 37, and Ronald Bowe, 32, both of Mount Vernon Road, Belfast, are accused of murdering Mr English.

Mr Miller faces a further two counts of membership of the UVF.

Both were remanded in custody until next week by Belfast Magistrates Court.

Armagh man accused of attempted murder
A 44-year-old Armagh man has appeared in court in connection with two counts of attempted murder. Colm Joseph McGurk, of Lower English Street, appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court accused of the attempted murder of Patrick and Eisha McGurk on Saturday.

Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Man Stabbed In Co Down
A 36-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Co Down. The 54-year-old victim was stabbed in the Manor Court area in Moira on Monday. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The woman is to appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Murder Inquiry After Woman Dies
Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Co Tyrone. Mairead McCallion, 36, was found at a property in Castleview Court, Omagh, on Sunday morning. She had suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital, but died a day later.

Two More Deny Loyalist Murder Charges
The latest two men to be charged with the murder of a leading loyalist paramilitary have pleaded not guilty. Tommy English was shot dead in his Ballyduff Estate home in October 2000. Six other men have already been charged in relation to the assassination, including incarcerated UVF member Mark Haddock.

Shivers Acquitted Of Murders
Brian Shivers, who was originally convicted of the Real IRA murders of two soldiers at Massereene Barracks in 2009, has been acquitted at Belfast Crown Court today. The soldiers, Mark Quinsey, 23, and Patrick Azimkar, were shot bt the Real IRA as they collected pizza they had ordered.
