Belfast Security Alerts Underway
A security alert is underway this afternoon in north Belfast. It is the latest of several such bomb scares today and has seen part of a main road closed off.
The Ballygomartin Road is closed at Twaddell junction and West Circular road junction following the discovery of a suspicous object
An earlier alert in Maghera - in both the Coleraine Road and Sunnyside Park areas - has been declared as hoaxes.
A number of people had initially to be moved from their homes due to the scare in the Co Londonderry town, but have now been able to return.
The main Coleraine Road was initially closed after a suspicious object was found in the Hawthorne Road area. The Army's Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) were sent to the scene and have since declared the area safe.
However, the main Strabane to Plumbridge Road in Co Tyrone is still closed due to a separate alert.
A suspicious object was found at the side of the road near the Evish Road junction this morning.
